One Love is proud to offer the services of Dr. David Balderrama, DVM, an exotic pet veterinarian with over 20 years' experience. Dr. Balderrama attended Ross University and graduated in 2003. After moving around a bit, he moved back to Idaho with his family during 2023 and now considers North Idaho his home. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Balderrama has served as a small animal/exotic veterinarian, with a special interest in Reptile Medicine. He also currently owns several species of reptiles, amphibians, and insects as pets. When not practicing exotic medicine or taking care of his "reptile zoo," Dr. Balderrama can be found playing bass and drums or cheering for the Gonzaga Bulldogs and LA Dodgers! Dr. Balderrama is looking forward to meeting you and your special exotic pet at One Love.

Dr. Mikayla Funke is an Eastern Washington native and attended Washington State University where she earned her B.S. in Animal Sciences. She graduated vet school in 2022 and has worked in the area since, where she developed her passion for large animals (especially ones with rumens!). She is dedicated to helping you and your furry family members feel as comfortable and healthy in any way that she can. One Love is very lucky to be able to offer Dr. Funke's ambulatory large animal services to our community! Hi, I’m Larissa! I’ve been working in animal care for over six years and am proud to be part of the One Love Animal Hospital team. I’m Animal CPR certified and love helping pets feel safe, healthy, and loved every day. When I’m not at the hospital, you can usually find me outdoors — camping, hiking, or backpacking with my husband. At home, we share our life with three amazing pets: our dog, Kai, and our two cats, Cruz and Chowder, who always keep things interesting!

Born and raised in Post Falls, Idaho, Katie developed a deep love for animals at a young age and always knew she wanted to work closely with them. About a year after graduating from high school in 2024, she began pursuing her passion by joining the Client Service Representative team where she could combine her care for animals with a desire to help people. Her goal is to attended school and become a Licensed Veterinary Technician in the future and she's learning those skills alongside our technicians now while also working the front desk. Outside of work, she enjoys staying active watching and coaching softball, spending quality time with her family at camp, and exploring the outdoors with her dog Ted right by her side.

My name is Haley and I grew up just south of Spokane in the Freeman community. After graduating with a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice from EWU, and spending years thinking I was meant for law enforcement, I found vet med. Only being in this field for about 2 and a half years, it has been the most rewarding decision I've ever made. Wanting to turn this passion into a career, I have started working on becoming a licensed veterinary technician.
When I'm not in the clinic cracking jokes and giving hugs to all the big dogs that will let me (no offense to little dogs and cats) I enjoy playing rec league softball, reading, teaching my nephew how to be cool, going to Disneyland when I can and relaxing with my 9yr old GSD Gemma! I look forward to creating meaningful bonds and memories with patients and their owners at OLAH!

I have dedicated my career to animal health and well-being, bringing over five years of experience in the veterinary field to our clinic. While I have worked around animals my entire life, my career in the animal world officially began in 2019 when I earned my Associate's Degree in Equine Studies. That specialized knowledge in large animal care quickly transitioned into comprehensive experience working with all types of companion animals in clinical practice. For the past five years, I have enjoyed applying my skills and passion to ensure every patient receives compassionate and high-quality attention. My commitment to excellence continues today as I am currently enrolled in an accredited Veterinary Technician program. I am constantly working to expand my knowledge and credentials to provide the very best care to your pets. I look forward to meeting you and your furry, scaled, or feathered family members! ~ Faith

Emily is a Carrington College graduate veterinary assistant of 5 years with previous experience in emergency, radiology and general practice. She loves any chance to be a part of the surgical team and has goals to become a licensed surgical technician. When she is not caring for patients, she is busy with gardening, adding "just one more" plant to her indoor collection, and wrangling two kids, 3 opinionated cats and one dog who bravely endures all of the cat drama

I have over 2 years of experience as a veterinary receptionist, and I truly enjoy working with clients and their pets. I am eager to learn new things and through doing so, be able to help our clinic support our community. I love the outdoors, and my favorite things to do are to go camping, ride on my side-by-side, and go fishing, among other things. I live on 5 acres and have 3 little dogs whom I love very much. ~Bobbie

I was born and raised in California, then moved to Texas where I lived for 9 years. The west coast called my name again so I decided to purchase land and move to Washington. I have 2 pets of my own: a kitten named Lenore and my soul dog, Peaches. I love spending time horseback riding, cross-stitching, and getting together with my friends! I am passionate about animal welfare and the over-population crisis and have always volunteered at various shelters, clinics, and rescues in every state I've lived in. One of the most meaningful parts of my work is supporting families through end-of-life care — providing gentle euthanasia services with empathy, dignity, and respect for both pets and their people and I hope to one day start my own at home euthanasia services for low income families. ~Reyna

Hi, my name is Laura! Ever since I was little, I knew I wanted to work with animals and the people who loved them. After earning my Bachelor’s degrees in Animal and Veterinary Science: Dairy Science and Animal and Veterinary Science: Production from the University of Idaho in 2022, I began my career in veterinary medicine—and to say it has been an amazing experience would be an understatement! I am passionate about helping pets feel safe, loved, and cared for in a calm environment, and I am excited to be a part of the One Love team. In my spare time, I love connecting with my friends, being outdoors or at the beach, reading, and spending time with my husband and our four cats: Onyx, Blinx, Holstein, and Skellington!

Sierra is originally from Spokane, Washington, and one of her favorite parts of her role is getting to know each pet and their owner and being able to help them feel supported, understood, and well cared for. She takes pride in creating a positive experience for every pet family she works with. Outside of work, Sierra enjoys spending time outdoors, especially camping and paddleboarding with her husband, their dog, and their adventurous cat. When she’s not exploring nature, you’ll often find her baking or crocheting and working on new creative projects. A fun and unique fact about Sierra is that she’s a certified cattle AI technician, a skill she picked up through her long-standing interest in animal science.

Leah was born and raised outside of Boston, Mass and moved out west about 12 years ago to continue her love for horses and small animals. She received her Bachelors degree in Equine Business Management/Riding from Johnson & Wales University in 2009. After she graduated, she traveled all up and down the east coast to numerous different horse jobs which consisted of grooming, training and breeding. She ended up taking a training position on the north side of Spokane when she first arrived in Washington and was there for 3 ½ years before giving birth to her pride and joy, Brody. Once Brody was 6 weeks old, she went back to work at a doggy daycare and then transitioned into getting her Certified Vet Assisting certificate from Carrington College. Once she graduated from Carrington, she took a job at a local clinic in Spokane Valley, WA and worked there for 7 years as a veterinary assistant. She is excited to begin this new career at OLAH and to bring her knowledge to all of our clients and patients! She is most excited to have the opportunity to work with large animals again! In her free time, she loves to spend time with her friends, her 8 year old son Brody, her identical twin sister named Heather and her 2 deaf dogs, Avalanche and Everest, 3 cats- Grey, Bailey and Peach, and 2 guinea pigs- Dunkin and Donut.

Shannon was born in Florida and raised in Gig Harbor, WA. Surrounded by water, but missing the warm sunshine, she decided to move to Eastern Washington. She has worked in veterinary medicine for 12 years, starting as a receptionist and working her way into a Veterinary Assistant. That is where she fell in love with performing dentals, assisting in surgeries and caring for each patient that came to visit. While she took a hiatus for 13 years from the hospital to raise her daughter, she continued her love for pets by pet sitting for clients and new found friends along the way. Fast forward through all these years and she is back to what she once loved and has truly missed. When Shannon is not working and the sun is shining, you will find her out on adventures around the water - paddle boarding, hiking, camping, occasional hikes to the hot springs, wine tasting and listening to local live music.
